Built for the well
Drilling salt is sodium chloride selected for use in drilling, completion and workover fluids. Dissolved into the mud system it raises brine density for pressure control, and it suppresses the swelling of reactive clays and shale so the borehole stays stable.
Grain size is chosen for fast, complete dissolution, and every consignment is supplied with consistent quality and full traceability so mud engineers can dose it predictably.

Why this grade
Builds brine weight for pressure control and suppresses clay and shale swelling to keep the hole stable.
A controlled grain-size range dissolves quickly and completely, so brine make-up is fast and repeatable.
Packaged and delivered at field scale, with traceable batches to support your own QA.
Specification
Representative values
Values are representative of the drilling grade. Guaranteed specification, grain size and packaging are confirmed for each order on the Certificate of Analysis.
Grade comparison
| Attribute | Drilling salt | Refined salt |
|---|---|---|
| Primary role | Brine density & inhibition | Purity-led uses |
| NaCl assay | ≥ 97–99 % | ≥ 99.5 % |
| Grain size | Graded for dissolution | Fine / uniform |
| Packaging | Bulk & big bag | Bags / totes |
| Typical use | Oilfield fluids | Food / softening |
